Pathway to Heaven

Until you experience the Great Wall of China for yourself, it is truly hard to grasp the sheer magnitude of this mind-blowing structure. The way it winds its way along the mountainside – it seems to go on forever. When I came upon this portion of the wall, I had to take a step back. With the moody clouds overhead, there was this incredibly eerie feel – like an old movie with a mysterious castle setting the tone. I positioned the lens to give an elongated feel to the path in front of me, with the stone building serving as a looming, final destination. The black and white tones add to the depth of the scene – providing great contrast between the brick and forestry. This photograph will always remind me of the Great Wall’s powerful presence – an awe inspiring feeling that stays with me to this day.
